Dignity in old age: caring for Manisha
Manisha, 83, needs daily care to stay at home, and the family is raising $3,100 for a carer and medicines.

I'm caring for my mother, who's 83. After a fall and hip fracture Manisha can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Manisha desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Manisha worked all of her life as a bus driver, and raised 5 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference.
The carer will be employed through a registered agency and paid directly. I'll share the agency invoices.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Part-time carer (three months): $1,800
• Medication and prescriptions: $320
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $430
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $550
