Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Paarl
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at Union Park that will serve 349 neighbors.
🇿🇦 Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa1,382 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $160, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 349 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Materials: $810
• Permits and inspections: $85
• Safety equipment and signage: $105
Thanks for being kind about this.
