A playground: a volunteer-led effort in Durban
Volunteers in Durban are raising $500 for a playground at the old Harmony bus depot.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Harmony bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $500.
It will serve about 475 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $500 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Materials: $425
