Ibadan
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $115, and the remaining cost is $550. It will serve about 449 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $550 goes: • Materials: $450 • Permits and inspections: $15 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $30 If you're reading this, thank you. - Joy
