For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,500. It will serve about 419 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,500 goes: • Materials: $880 • Permits and inspections: $75 • Safety equipment and signage: $180 • Tools hire and delivery: $365 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Misaki.

    • Materials is $880 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. I'll keep the page updated.
