For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Cedar bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,650. It will serve about 196 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,650 goes: • Materials: $1,750 • Permits and inspections: $270 • Safety equipment and signage: $230 • Tools hire and delivery: $400 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
