Lahore
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Wednesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 27 families, and now we feed 289 each week. Donations have dropped by about 33% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Lahore market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $185 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $175 • Baby formula and diapers: $60 • Refrigeration and electricity: $30 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure. - Asad

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Asad.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($185) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.

  • Take care, Asad. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. God bless

    • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Lahore.

      • Sending strength. Gave what I could, wish it was more. It's not much but it's yours

You're not alone, Asad. Looking forward to the next update.
