Let's build a covered market stall space together in Vancouver
A community-led a covered market stall space at the Baobab health centre yard that will serve 184 neighbors.
🇨🇦 Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada412 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,600.
It will serve about 184 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $360
• Materials: $1,850
• Tools hire and delivery: $390
Thanks for reading all this.

Praying for you. Hope this works out for you. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless.
Thanks for sharing this. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Put this on a community board in Salerno this morning. All the best.
hope it all works out. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
keep going, Brooks. Shared it with a few friends. Take care.
Wishing you the best, Brooks. Shared this with my family!
Sending love. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you
