Let's build a covered market stall space together in Houston

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,150, and the remaining cost is $1,950. It will serve about 465 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,950 goes: • Permits and inspections: $390 • Tools hire and delivery: $490 • Materials: $1,070 I hope life is good to you. - Genesis
