Clean air and water for Surat: restoring the Pioneer wetland
Help us clean and replant the Pioneer wetland before the October planting window closes.
🇮🇳 Surat, Gujarat, India1,038 views
The Pioneer wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This July, 94 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 96 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $450 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $230
• Tools and protective gear: $100
• Waste removal and skip hire: $110
• Signage and educational materials: $10
Thank you so much.

Take care. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I'll check back for the next update. All the best!
So sorry you're going through this, Usha. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Polokwane donated after I showed her your page. God bless.
great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected
Looking forward to the next update. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Sandton.
