Leipzig storm relief - the Old Town settlement
The storm damaged 56 homes in the Old Town settlement. We are raising funds for repairs, supplies and temporary shelter.

The storm hit the Old Town settlement on 15 September. My home was one of 56 damaged, and 3 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $5,450 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $2,800
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,350
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,300
Thanks for being kind about this.

So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Leipzig.
Wishing you the best, Walter. More neighborhoods should do this.
Hang in there, Walter. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you
Sending strength. This could happen to any of us. After 23 years in retail I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Thinking of Leipzig.
Thanks for sharing this, Walter. Shared this with my family.
stay strong, Walter. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
