Lei's emergency hernia repair can't wait - please help us cover the bill

Lei was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,500, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $6,850 short.
my mother has been in and out of Saint Luke Hospital since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lei struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Lei won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
