Legal fees for Madhu's wage-theft claim in San Diego
Madhu needs $3,100 for filing fees and representation in a wage-theft claim before the July deadline.

Madhu is facing a wage-theft claim. The hearing is scheduled for July, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $3,100. Three legal-aid offices have said their waiting lists are longer than the deadline.
Madhu has all the paperwork ready, and a caseworker at the San Diego Community Legal Centre has confirmed that the case is valid.
If the deadline is missed Madhu could lose the right to stay with the family and the job. The children were born here and this is the only home they know.
Funds cover only the filing fees, translations and attorney retainer.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $2,150
• Filing and biometrics fees: $520
• Certified translations and document copies: $310
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $120
