Legal fees for Amber's residency renewal in Flint
A residency renewal deadline is approaching and Amber can't afford the lawyer.
🇺🇸 Flint, Michigan, United States1,760 views
I'm facing a residency renewal. My hearing is scheduled for June, and the filing fees and the lawyer's retainer come to $2,950. I have been told by three legal-aid offices that their waiting list is longer than my deadline.
I have all of my paperwork ready, and my caseworker at Flint Welcome Centre has confirmed that my case is valid.
If I miss the deadline I could lose my right to stay with my family and my job. My children were born here and this is the only home they know.
I'll share any non-sensitive updates as the case moves along.
The money goes to the immigration attorney's trust account and the court filing office. I'll upload receipts with sensitive details removed.
Where the $2,950 goes:
• Attorney retainer: $1,850
• Filing and biometrics fees: $740
• Certified translations and document copies: $210
• Court-appointed interpreter and travel: $150
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Hope things get better soon, Amber. I hope things turn around soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry.
Thinking of you. Hope you get there. We're a small family in Medina but we're thinking of you. God bless.
Rooting for you, Amber. This could happen to any of us. All the best
