Laparoscopic cyst removal for Aisha: covering what insurance won't
Aisha needs laparoscopic cyst removal at Cairo University Hospital and the family is $400 short of the hospital's estimate.

Aisha was diagnosed with a thyroid nodule that needs removal in August. The surgeon at Cairo University Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $530, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $400 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Cairo University Hospital since August. The doctors say a thyroid nodule that needs removal will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $530 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Aisha struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Aisha won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $400 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $270
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $40
• Travel and lodging for the family: $90
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
