I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at the Tema Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $600.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 5 weeks.
With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $600 goes:
• communication tablet with eye tracking: $470
• Fitting and training sessions: $60
• Delivery and set-up: $25
• First-year servicing plan: $45
