Ananya was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in January. The surgeon at Mumbai Orthopedic Institute recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,150, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $800 short. my mother has been in and out of Mumbai Orthopedic Institute since January. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,150 is more than we can find. While we wait, Ananya struggles with daily life and can't climb stairs. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Ananya won't be able to climb stairs, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $800 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $110 • Travel and lodging for the family: $35 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $200 • Post-operative medication: $45 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $410 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
