Kidist needs a prosthetic leg - help us make it happen
Kidist needs a prosthetic leg that the health system won't fund; the cost is $100.
🇪🇹 Gondar, Amhara, Ethiopia847 views
Kidist lives with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapist at Gondar General Hospital has assessed her and recommended a prosthetic leg. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $100.
Her current equipment is 14 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 8 weeks.
With the right equipment Kidist could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $100 goes:
• Fitting and training sessions: $50
• Delivery and set-up: $10
• First-year servicing plan: $40
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kidist.
Sure. The biggest one is fitting and training sessions, $50. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. It helps to be asked.
Wishing Kidist a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I hope March is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Gondar
It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 13 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.
