Keep the electricity on at Siyabonga's home in Cape Town
A disconnection notice for electricity arrived and Siyabonga needs $200 before November.

The electricity account is 4 months behind. I received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on November unless I pay $200. I have never been late before July's medical emergency.
I called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $15 first, which I don't have.
I live with two young children, and going through summer without electricity isn't safe. We can't cook, keep medicine cold or heat the home.
I'm working on getting back on my feet, and will pay forward whatever help I can once I'm steady.
The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here.
Where the $200 goes:
• Electricity arrears: $100
• Reconnection and late fees: $45
• Down payment on a payment plan: $55
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Sending good thoughts, Siyabonga. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Gliwice.
Best of luck, Siyabonga. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
Thanks for sharing this, Siyabonga. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.
I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in London this morning. All the best.
thinking of you and your family. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Wish I lived closer to Colombo so I could bring a meal. Blessings
