Keep a roof over Lorena's head in San Antonio
After a sudden layoff, Lorena is 2 months behind on rent and has a notice to vacate from the landlord.

After a car accident that kept me from work for 5 weeks, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Tuesday a notice to vacate was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $4,550.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I have a teenager still in school at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $4,550 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $3,200
• Late fees and court costs: $380
• Utilities in arrears: $220
• First month of rent as a buffer: $750
With deep gratitude,
Lorena

You're not alone, Lorena. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of San Antonio.
wishing you the best, Lorena. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My husband and I read this together. Thinking of San Antonio!
