Keep a roof over Jade's head in Ottawa
A long illness left Jade short on rent for 2 months; help us stay in our home.

When the call centre closed in July, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $2,950.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by September, we must leave.
I have a toddler and a baby at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working two part-time jobs, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $2,950 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $1,800
• Late fees and court costs: $165
• Utilities in arrears: $110
• First month of rent as a buffer: $875
Thank you so much.

Thanks for sharing this. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend
best of luck, Jade. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
Thinking of you and your family. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.
