Kato needs a lift to Kisumu General Hospital - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to Kisumu General Hospital would keep Kato on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Kato has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to Kisumu General Hospital alone. After a foot amputation, Kato can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 12 km each way. Kato is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

  • Sending strength, Mwangi. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Wish I lived closer to Riverside so I could bring a meal. Greetings from Rotterdam

    • hang in there, Mwangi. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Kisumu.

Wishing you the best, Mwangi. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

          • Thinking of you and your family. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Lahore.
