Julia was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at Vancouver University Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $7,500 short. my wife has been in and out of Vancouver University Hospital since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Julia struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Julia won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $7,500 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $940 • Travel and lodging for the family: $440 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,500 • Post-operative medication: $400 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $2,220 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - John
