I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at Bogotá General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $2,150.
My current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment I could speak with the people around him. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $2,150 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $40
• stair-climbing aid: $2,100
• Delivery and set-up: $10
