Independence for Nkechi: powered wheelchair

A powered wheelchair would give Nkechi independence - we're $650 away.

I live with a spinal cord injury. My occupational therapist at Abuja General Hospital has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $650. My current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $650 goes: • powered wheelchair: $560 • Fitting and training sessions: $20 • Delivery and set-up: $25 • First-year servicing plan: $45 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

    • Rooting for you, Nkechi. Gave what I could, wish it was more. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Abuja.
