Ikeja house fire that spread across the block relief - the Harbor neighborhood
Neighbors in the Harbor neighborhood are rebuilding after the house fire that spread across the block; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.
🇳🇬 Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria1,913 views
The house fire that spread across the block hit the Harbor neighborhood on 24 August. My home was one of 71 damaged, and 7 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $420
• Clean water and purification supplies: $90
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $80
• Food parcels for displaced families: $220
• Tools and labor for repairs: $340
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
