House fire that spread across the block in Arlington: help Orchard village rebuild
After the house fire that spread across the block, families in Orchard village need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

The house fire that spread across the block hit Orchard village on 10 September. My home was one of 70 damaged, and 13 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
We buy supplies locally and in bulk, so the money goes further. Receipts and photos will be posted in updates.
Where the $8,500 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $3,650
• Clean water and purification supplies: $730
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $760
• Food parcels for displaced families: $1,650
• Tools and labor for repairs: $1,710
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Arlington
Thinking of you. Your post was clear and honest. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it
