I'm caring for my mother, who's 79. After the death of her spouse Lucy can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Lucy desperately wants to stay at home. I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Lucy worked all of her life as a nurse, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $5,450 goes: • Part-time carer (eight months): $4,450 • Medication and prescriptions: $510 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $290 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $200 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
