I'm caring for my mother, who's 79. After worsening Parkinson's disease Linh can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Linh desperately wants to stay at home. I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer. Linh worked all of her life as a shopkeeper, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for four months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $800 goes: • Medication and prescriptions: $80 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $55 • Part-time carer (four months): $665 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Hà

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Linh.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. medication and prescriptions comes first ($80) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for looking so closely.

  • Thinking of you. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best!

    • Sending good thoughts, Hà. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Take care.
