I'm caring for my father, who's 84. After worsening Parkinson's disease Indika can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Indika desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Indika worked all of his life as a farmer, and raised 3 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $700 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $470
• Medication and prescriptions: $125
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $45
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $60

Good news. Because of your gifts ($291 in total) I made the first payment toward medication and prescriptions. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
