I'm caring for my father, who's 78. After a diagnosis of dementia Frank can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Frank desperately wants to stay at home. I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Frank worked all of his life as a nurse, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $5,450 goes: • Part-time carer (six months): $4,150 • Medication and prescriptions: $730 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $270 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $300 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
