I'm caring for my father, who's 86. After a diagnosis of dementia Fábio can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Fábio desperately wants to stay at home. I work 40 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer. Fábio worked all of his life as a carpenter, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back. Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for three months will make a huge difference. Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies. Where the $1,500 goes: • Part-time carer (three months): $1,100 • Medication and prescriptions: $200 • Hospital bed and mattress rental: $80 • Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $120 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
