I'm caring for me, who's 84. After a diagnosis of dementia Emily can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Emily desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after her, but we need a part-time carer.
Emily worked all of her life as a farmer, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,700 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $3,850
• Medication and prescriptions: $340
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $280
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $230

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. part-time carer (six months) comes first ($3,850) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
