Heru lives with low vision from retinitis pigmentosa. The occupational therapist at the Jakarta Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a pair of hearing aids. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $800. His current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 4 weeks. With the right equipment Heru could speak with the people around him. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $800 goes: • pair of hearing aids: $710 • Fitting and training sessions: $30 • Delivery and set-up: $35 • First-year servicing plan: $25 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
