Onitsha
Yakubu was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in July. The oncology team at the Onitsha Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 12 weeks. Yakubu is 33, worked as a tailor until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Onitsha Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,400 goes: • Scans and lab work: $260 • Household costs while unable to work: $250 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $800 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $90 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to. - Sani
