Kumasi
For six years I have run a barbershop in Kumasi. In January, a storm that collapsed the roof took clippers, chairs and mirrors. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Monday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 3 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $650 goes: • Replacing clippers, chairs and mirrors: $420 • Initial stock: supplies: $60 • Shop repairs and licensing: $60 • Working capital for the first month: $110 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Updates from William

  1. Thank you all. We're at 108% now ($703). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Update from Kumasi: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 56% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($245 in total) I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
