Teresa was diagnosed with colon cancer in December. The oncology team at Birmingham University Hospital has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in March. She will be away from work for about 7 weeks. Teresa is 54, worked as a taxi driver until December, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Birmingham University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,650 goes: • Household costs while unable to work: $1,650 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,500 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $500 Thank you so much. - Kai

Updates from Kai

  1. Small update. $4,359 so far, the plan for chemotherapy and medication not covered is now scheduled.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 40% now ($3,060). I'm honestly stunned. the first invoice got paid this week.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,391 in total) I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
