Following a long illness in the family, Seamus fell 3 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $1,850. The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, the family must leave. There are a toddler and a baby at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else. Seamus has started working weekend shifts, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here. The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done. Where the $1,850 goes: • Rent arrears (3 months): $1,500 • Late fees and court costs: $250 • Utilities in arrears: $100 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Seamus.

The list at the bottom is the whole picture. rent arrears (3 months) is the biggest at $1,500. Good question.

Thanks for sharing this. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. God bless.
