Mangaluru
Yamuna, my mother, passed away on 6 September after a short illness. She was 24 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $650 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 25 September. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Yamuna to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to the Mangaluru hospice. Where the $650 goes: • Funeral home services and casket: $360 • Cemetery plot and burial fees: $250 • Transport of the deceased: $40 Glad we found this place.

  • Thanks for sharing this, Revathi. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 9 years ago and strangers helped me out

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Toronto this morning.
