In January I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Karlsruhe University Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for March. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $9,000, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $6,350 short. Doctors at Karlsruhe University Hospital told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. I work as a care assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $9,000 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a care assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. The recovery period is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $6,350 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,000 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $1,900 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $500 • Post-operative medication: $300 • Physiotherapy sessions: $460 • Travel and lodging for the family: $190 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Rooting for you. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Love from Nashik!

    • thinking of you. Hope the doctors have good news. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
