Salvador
In May I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. My surgeon at Salvador Regional Medical Center recommended emergency hernia repair, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,800, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $1,350 short. Doctors at Salvador Regional Medical Center told me a large ovarian cyst will get worse without emergency hernia repair. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,800 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,350 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $130 • Physiotherapy sessions: $135 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $500 • Hospital stay (5 nights): $410 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $175 I hope life is good to you. - Beatriz

Updates from Beatriz

  1. Update from Salvador: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 10% now ($135). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the hospital and confirmed the amounts.
