Luiz was diagnosed with cervical cancer in January. The oncology team at São Paulo Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in May. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Luiz is 32, worked as a primary school teacher until January, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to São Paulo Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $2,950 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,450 • Scans and lab work: $490 • Transport to São Paulo Regional Medical Center: $340 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $125 • Household costs while unable to work: $545 Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
