Sundar was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in May. The surgeon at Mumbai Community Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,200, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $850 short.
my father has been in and out of Mumbai Community Hospital since May. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without cataract surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,200 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Sundar struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Sundar won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.

Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $290. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Happy to explain more.
