Lorena was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August. The oncology team at the Cartagena Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in November. She will be away from work for about 10 weeks. Lorena is 43, worked as a cleaner at a hospital until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Cartagena Oncology Institute 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders. I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes. Where the $1,950 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,050 • Scans and lab work: $180 • Transport to the Cartagena Oncology Institute: $310 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $150 • Household costs while unable to work: $260 Thank you for reading my story. - Miguel

Updates from Miguel

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($120 in total) we've started the first stage. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
