A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Wudil
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $300 for materials.
🇳🇬 Nigeria809 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Liberty Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 252 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $200
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $30
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Thank you for reading my story.
