Joseph was diagnosed with stomach cancer in May. The oncology team at Oakland Cancer Centre has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in July. He will be away from work for about 3 weeks. Joseph is 56, worked as a bakery worker until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Oakland Cancer Centre 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $7,900 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $5,750 • Transport to Oakland Cancer Centre: $990 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,160 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
