Iwona was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in June. The surgeon at Katowice Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,900, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,950 short. my daughter has been in and out of Katowice Orthopedic Institute since June. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,900 is more than we can find. While we wait, Iwona struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Iwona won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
