For four years I have run a tailoring shop in Islamabad. In July, floodwater took three industrial sewing machines. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 8 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $500 goes: • Replacing three industrial sewing machines: $270 • Initial stock: fabric and thread: $55 • Shop repairs and licensing: $80 • Working capital for the first month: $95 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Hope things get better soon, Haris. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.

Small businesses are the heart of Islamabad. Hope you're open again soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.

      • Stay strong, Haris. Shared it with a few friends
