He has worked as a tutor to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $3,850. The registrar has said Gonzalo can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Gonzalo has a 3.6 average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Gonzalo would lose his place and scholarship eligibility. Gonzalo isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
