Mandurah
Since 2023, our volunteer team has run the Harvest Pantry every Monday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 62 each week. Donations have dropped by about 55% this winter, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 13 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mandurah market and keep every receipt. Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $3,250 goes: โ€ข Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $2,150 โ€ข Fresh vegetables and fruit: $700 โ€ข Baby formula and diapers: $200 โ€ข Refrigeration and electricity: $200 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Cooper

    • thanks for sharing this, Cooper. More neighborhoods should do this.

      • Hang in there. Looking forward to the next update. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Thinking of Mandurah.

It's all in the list in the story. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the big one at $2,150, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Ask me anything else.

        • a colleague of mine might know someone for this in Western Australia. I'll ask around and let you know.

          • hope it all works out. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Dublin

            • Thinking of you, Cooper. This could happen to any of us. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.

              • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 23 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
